Liebe Unterstützer*innen,

Vielen Dank für eure großzügigen Beiträge zu meiner WM Kampagne. Ich bin jetzt schon seit einer Woche in Griechenland und bereite mich auf die WM vor. Es sind harte Bedingungen: extreme Hitze, untertags manchmal sehr leichter Wind, aber wenn es Abends ein bisschen abkühlt auch stärkeren. Vor allem die kurzen Wellen könnten eine Herausforderung werden. Ich bin froh sagen zu können, dass ich trotz den schwierigen Bedingungen in der letzten Woche grosse Fortschritte gemacht habe.

Ich freue mich auf die WM und werde Euch berichten.

Dear supporters,

Thank you very much for your generous contributions to my World Championship campaign. I've been in Greece for a week now and I'm preparing for the World Championship . It's hard conditions: extreme heat, sometimes very light wind during the day, but when it cools down a bit in the evening it's also stronger. Especially the short waves could become a challenge. I am glad to say that despite the difficult conditions, I have made great progress last week.

I am looking forward to the World Championship and will give you updates.

ich bin Niklas Ambos und segle ILCA 4 für den DRCS. Durch meine Resultate ist es mir gelungen, mich dieses Jahr wieder für die WM und EM zu qualifizieren, um für die Schweiz anzutreten.

Als olympische Klasse, ist die Leistungsdichte im ILCA ist selbst in den Jugendklassen bereits sehr hoch. Den ganzen Herbst und Winter haben mich meine Coaches (Noa, Leo, Daniel & Damir) beim Segeln wie auch beim Krafttraining gepushed und ich habe wahnsinnige Fortschritte gemacht. Fünf Wochen vor der EM kam das große Setback: Ich habe mir beim Basketball spielen die Hand gebrochen. Die Ärzte am Kantonsspital St. Gallen haben meine Hand mit einer Titanschraube schnell wieder zusammenbekommen. Der Weg zurück war jedoch Hart. Bei den Eurocups und nationalen Regatten habe in den letzten paar Wochen große Erfolge erzielen können. Mein ganzer Fokus liegt nun auf der WM in Volos, Griechenland. Leider kostet die viel Geld. (Boottransport, Flug, Vortraining, Registrierung,  neues Segel).  Deshalb wäre ich froh über Eure Unterstützung.

Nach dem Sommer hoffe ich dann den nächsten grossen Schritt in Richtung Profisport zu machen. Ich wurde am Kunst und Sportgymnasium Zürich angenommen, einer Swiss Olympic Partner Schule, wo ich mehr Zeit und Unterstützung für meinen Sport bekomme.

I'm Niklas Ambos and I sail ILCA 4 for the DRCS. Thanks to my results, I managed to qualify and represent Switzerland at the World Cup and European Championships. 

As an Olympic class, the level of competition in the ILCA is already very high, even in the youth classes. Throughout the fall and winter, my coaches (Noa, Leo, Daniel & Damir) have been pushing me in sailing as well as strength training and I have made incredible progress. Five weeks before the European Championships, the big setback came: I broke my hand while playing basketball. The doctors at the Cantonal Hospital of St. Gallen quickly fixed my hand with a titanium screw. However, the way back was hard. At the Eurocups and national regattas, I have been able to achieve great results in the last few weeks. Now, my whole focus is on the World Championships in Volos, Greece. Unfortunately, it costs a lot of money. (boat transport, flight, pre-training, registration, new sail).  That's why I would be happy for your support.

After the summer, I hope to take the next big step towards professional sports. I was accepted at the Kunst und Sportgymnasium Zürich, a Swiss Olympic Partner School, where I get more time and support for my sport.
